Camps

Indian River State College offers a variety of fun, challenging and educational summer experiences for primary, middle, and high school students.  Kids work directly with coaches, faculty, and staff as they develop key skills and explore their curiosities. 


Pre-College and Career Exploration

IRSC Pre-College and Career Exploration Camps can help you choose your perfect career through hands-on activities and one-on-one interaction with staff and faculty who are experts in their field.

Discover your future as you explore exciting career paths through the Quest Summer Program. During the three-week summer enrichment program, students will explore Career Pathways Clusters to identify major areas of career interest. They will use technology tools to access and research career information. Students will participate in exploratory tours including public service, workforce education, advanced technology, digital media and health sciences. Students will leave with an increased awareness that will aid them in choosing a career.

For boys and girls 14 to 16 years of age (as of June 1) who are residents of Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties. Parent or guardian must be able to document residency in the State of Florida one year prior to date of application to the program.

Fee: $125.00 per camper. 

Students will receive training and information on leadership and citizenship skills; receive relevant information on gangs, drugs, and financial literacy; receive remediation in basic skills; receive instruction on occupational skills and career exploration; and will be introduced to parenting skills. All academic activities will be competency-based with achievement assessed daily. A pre-and post-test will be administered for each student. Students will receive remediation instruction in reading, writing, and math. Students will investigate a selection of occupational skills programs during career exploration activities. Students will be recognized for their accomplishments during their summer experience through an awards ceremony at the close of the summer program.

Students must be Okeechobee County residents. Once students complete the orientation and registration process, they will be assigned to groups with varying skill levels. During the career exploration component, the students will be actively engaged in learning occupational skills related to the sixteen career clusters:

Arts, A/V Technology & Communications Business, Management & Administration
Education & Training Finance
Government & Public Administration Health Science
Hospitality & Tourism Human Services

Students participating in this program have the opportunity to earn a weekly stipend. Students earn this incentive money through individual and team building activities, which require positive participation, behavior, attendance, completion of assignments and tasks, attitude, and respect of others. This program piece is designed to stress good work ethic, financial responsibility, and self commitment. Many students earn their "first paychecks" based on their performance and may earn a scholarship to IRSC by the end of the summer.

Transportation: Students are not provided transportation to and from the program.
Fee: Through the generosity of local organizations supporting youth, the program offers scholarships to Expanding Horizons participants. Students must be Okeechobee County residents. Scholarships are not automatic and must be applied for during the application process. 

The Health Science Academy is an initiative that will provide Okeechobee County youth the opportunity to participant in a three-week summer program which focuses on health-related career and occupational exploration, academic skills improvement, self-awareness development, as well as, enhancement of social, leadership and employability skills. The IRSC Health Science Academy enables middle and high school students between the ages of 14-18, who reside in Okeechobee County, the opportunity to explore careers in the health science through hands-on activities, field trips and interactive exercises in a relaxed academic atmosphere. During this three-week program, students will be exposed to many of the fastest-growing careers in the State which include Physical Therapist Assistant, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Medical Lab Technician, Radiography, Pharmacy Technician, Surgical Technician, Dental and Respiratory Care. Students participating in this program have the opportunity to earn a weekly stipend.

Are you interested in fun-filled days of high-tech?

TechKnow Camp is FREE and designed for Martin County students who have completed grades 6th through 8th by June 2023 with a minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA. 

Participants will: 

  • Design, build, program and operate robots
  • Jump into aerospace rocketry projects
  • Learn Java coding
  • Participate in engineering competitions
  • Learn graphic design techniques & digital media skills
  • Learn about and race drones
  • Attend “explore IRSC” field trip

Breakfast and lunch are provided. Limited transportation is available.

Sports Camps

At IRSC Sports Camps, campers at all levels develop confidence and build critical skills while fostering an appreciation for health, fitness, and teambuilding. Camps take place during summer on the IRSC Massey Campus in Fort Pierce. 

This summer, our staff will be conducting the IRSC Aqua Sports Camp. This camp will be held at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex on the IRSC Massey Campus in Fort Pierce. Specific instruction will be provided in the areas of swimming, diving, aquatic games and dry-land activities from experienced, safety certified IRSC staff. The experience of our instructors, combined with the various activities will result in a fun, rewarding summer experience.

Campers should be able to swim and be comfortable in water depths that exceed their height.

Camper should bring the following: appropriate swim attire, towel, goggles (optional), bring their own snacks/drinks for lunch break. Sunscreen should be applied prior to the start of camp.

Indian River State College Softball Camp will offer an opportunity for campers to receive valuable instruction from the IRSC Softball coaches and players.  Campers spend each day improving their softball skills of throwing, catching, hitting, bunting, base running and pitching.

Campers should wear appropriate gear.

Learn the techniques of hitting, catching, throwing and running bases at IRSC Baseball Camp from IRSC coaches and players.

Campers should bring gloves, hitting bat and a water bottle, and wear appropriate baseball gear.

Baseball Camp is for boys residing in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties.

Each day in camp, campers will be learning certain techniques and drills that will improve their all-around game. Each participant will have the chance to work in small group settings with college coaches and collegiate athletes. Campers will learn the proper techniques to improve their all-around game: ball handling, passing, rebounding, and shooting. 

Campers should bring: Basketball attire/sneakers, water bottle and towel.

Campers will learn teamwork while developing their footwork, ball handling, shooting, rebounding and screening.

Campers learn body posture and eye and hand placement and develop skills in footwork, screening, perimeter scoring, free throws, follow through and post offense.

Campers should wear basketball shoes and socks, bring a towel and water bottle.

This camp is geared towards rising 5th graders and under. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment where kids can come train, develop, and improve their fundamental skills of volleyball! Campers will be instructed by IRSC Volleyball Head Coach, Jordan Bickett and Assistant Coach, Erin Ergle. Athletes will also be able to learn from as well as build relationships with members of the IRSC volleyball team.

Campers should wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and knee pads, and bring water and money for concessions.

The Petite Pioneers will receive an IRSC volleyball t-shirt as well as daily instruction in stretching, team defense, passing, team offense, setting, jumping, attacking, teamwork and footwork with endless amounts of FUN!

At the end of each day, recognition will be awarded to campers that best displayed qualities of what it means to be a Pioneer at The River! At the end of the camp, we will recognize a camper of the week who best displayed these qualities throughout the entire week.

This camp is geared towards volleyball athletes who are going into 6th to 11th grade. This camp is designed to meet the needs of novice and experienced volleyball players. They will train, build and improve their skills in areas such as team defense, passing, team offense, setting, jumping, attacking, teamwork and footwork. Campers will be instructed by IRSC Volleyball Head Coach, Jordan Bickett and Assistant Coach, Erin Ergle. Athletes will also be able to learn from as well as build relationships with members of the IRSC volleyball team.

Campers are responsible to bring their own lunch or may purchase meals at the Koblegard Student Union. Campers are also encouraged to bring water and money for concessions. Players should wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and knee pads and will also receive an IRSC volleyball t-shirt.

Each session of the All-Skills Camp will include individual training, team training, and team competition with endless amounts of FUN over the course of 4 days!

Indian River Volleyball is hosting an Elite Prospect Camp on July 24! If you graduate in 2024, this camp is for you! Come and spend a day in the life of being a Pioneer. Experience the thrill of being a collegiate athlete and work through a series of drills, team competition, and train as a Pioneer. Along with, getting to meet and play with current members of the IRSC volleyball team. Athletes will be provided lunch as well as receiving an IRSC volleyball t-shirt.

Please wear proper gym attire, bring knee pads, and water bottle if desired.

This camp focuses on specialized training and skill development by position. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill in order to provide the most optimal learning and greatest experience. Each camp session will be split into the following:

July 25

  • Serve/ Serve, Receive 8:00 a.m. - Noon
  • Attacking, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

July 26

  • Setting, 8:00 a.m. - Noon
  • Defense, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Campers will be instructed by IRSC Volleyball Head Coach, Jordan Bickett and Assistant Coach, Erin Ergle. Athletes will also be able to learn from as well as build relationships with members of the IRSC volleyball team.

Indian River Volleyball is hosting Team Camp July 27-28! This is a great opportunity for high school players and coaches alike, to get a lot of quality touches and train as a team before the fall season. There will be a limit of 14 players allowed per team. Each Head Coach will receive a code for their team. YOU MUST BE AFFILIATED WITH A HIGH SCHOOL TEAM TO SIGN UP. If you do not have the code from your coach, you will not be able to sign up. There will be a cap of 8 teams allowed to attend this camp.

Day 1 will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 8:00 p.m. with two meals provided at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Day 2 will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish closer to 5:00 p.m., one meal provided.

All sessions will focus on each volleyball skill within a team-based setting. All teams will observe demo and then break off to courts to get reps.
