IRSC Breaks Ground on New Indiantown High School

June 16, 2022 Robert Lane

Indian River State College (IRSC) commemorated the groundbreaking of Indiantown High School, a state-of-the-art career and workforce education high school during a celebratory event held on Tuesday, June 14 at 9 a.m. The event brought together more than 150 guests including, the IRSC College community, state and local leaders, donors to the project, and Indiantown community members to the 25-acre school site on Southwest Citrus Boulevard in Indiantown.

Work on the project commenced almost immediately after the passing of Governor Ron DeSantis’ Freedom First Budget, which includes $5 million toward the programmatic planning and site infrastructure and development, planning, design and engineering, and preliminary construction of the new charter high school.

In mid-2021 IRSC made public its vision to bring a charter high school to Indiantown, Florida— one of the most economically depressed areas in its service district. The project accelerated with a $10 million gift from an anonymous donor who admired the College's track record and commitment to helping students of all ages, backgrounds, and means achieve their dreams through education.

Indiantown High School will welcome its first students in its temporary location at the Boys & Girls Club of Martin County - Indiantown in August 2022. The school is presently accepting applications for admissions to its inaugural 9th-grade class. (The application is available at indiantownhs.irsc.edu.)
