FEDERAL WORK-STUDY
Working part-time to cover college expenses.

The Federal Work-Study program provides part-time employment to help students with financial need cover the cost of their college educations.
Benefits of Federal Work-Study include:
- Earning money to help meet college expenses
- Working at a convenient on-campus location
- Flexible work scheduling around your class times
- The opportunity to find employment matching your educational and professional interests
- Gaining the experience employers are looking for while still in college
The hourly wages for Federal Work-Study positions vary but are no less than the federal minimum wage. The amount of your Federal Work-Study award is based on your financial need, as determined by your FAFSA.
This program is funded through the Federal Work-Study and Florida Work Experience programs.

Federal Work-Study Student Wages
Unlike other forms of financial aid, a Federal Work-Study award cannot be credited toward your tuition bill or given to you as a lump sum.
Instead, you’ll receive the funds as wages earned for the work you do. Work-study students are paid bi-monthly by paycheck or direct deposit. How much you earn depends on:
- Your position’s hourly rate (which can be different for different jobs)
- How many hours you work during each pay period
Your total yearly earnings are limited by funding available in the federal and campus work-study budgets. Your earnings in the Federal Work-Study program cannot exceed your financial need.
As a student worker, you will not be eligible for unemployment compensation and other employee benefits.
