THIS PROGRAM WILL…
- Introduce you to fundamental tool operation and safety and blueprint reading
- Help you develop the skills needed for site preparation, framing, and installation of doors, windows and other components
- Prepare you for entry-level positions in building construction, such as bench or rough carpenter

Carpentry
Career Training & Apprenticeship Programs
Credits or Hours: 1200
Offered in partnership with the Treasure Coast Builders’ Association, this hands-on residential carpentry program provides foundational skills and knowledge you need for entry-level positions in the building construction industry.
What You Will Learn
In Introduction to Carpentry, you’ll learn the basics: manual and power tools, safety practices, blueprint reading, and simple math. Then, through three additional courses, you will explore aspects of the carpentry trade such as:
- Building materials
- Fasteners and hardware
- Exterior coverings and trims
- Interior doors, walls, and ceiling coverings
- Framing
- Roof trusses
- Doors, windows, and stairs
- Rigging and scaffolding
- Hurricane code compliance
After successfully completing the program, you’ll be qualified for many roles on a residential job site. As you gain experience as a carpenter, you could move up into leadership positions such as foreman, estimator or project manager.
