DUAL ENROLLMENT

Courses for College and High School Credit

Explore the courses you can take as a dual enrollment student. If you enroll in one of these courses and pass at the end of the semester, you will receive both college and high school credit. 

If you have questions about how dual enrollment courses will apply to your high school graduation requirements, talk to your high school guidance counselor. 

Dual enrollment college credit will transfer to any public college or university offering that course with the same prefix and number. However, if you do not attend Indian River State College after high school, we cannot guarantee your earned dual enrollment credits will apply to the equivalent course at another institution. 

Information for Parents

College course materials and class discussions may reflect topics not typically included in high school courses. College courses will not be modified to accommodate variations in student age and/or maturity. As a parent, you can access and review course syllabi online to determine if the content is age appropriate for your student. 

Flexible Locations and Times

Dual enrollment courses are available at any of the five Indian River State College campuses and at many high schools in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie county. Learn more about the dual enrollment agreements with public, private and high schools in the Treasure Coast area.

Home School / Private School / Personalized Education Program

Additional steps for Students and Schools not using the DEAN System:

1. Once program eligibility is confirmed, complete and submit the Dual Enrollment Registration (Form 68) and email the completed form to DE@irsc.edu for processing by the Dual Enrollment Office.
2. Forms must be signed by the student, the high school designee, and the parent or legal guardian if the student is under 18 years of age.

To participate in the Dual Enrollment program at Indian River State College, please complete the following based on School Type:

Home School Students

1. Home education students must complete the Home School Dual Enrollment Agreement and provide proof of enrollment in a home education program from their local school district, pursuant to Florida Statutes
   § 1002.41. Home School Dual Enrollment Agreement Updates are made annually and can be found by referencing this page. 
2. This documentation can be completed within the Dual Enrollment Application Portal or, if submitting after admission, sent via email to DE@irsc.edu for processing by the Dual Enrollment Office.
3. All Dual Enrollment students must complete any required continuing onboarding documentation for the annual verification of status, typically applicable to Home School and PEP students.

Personalized Education Program (PEP) Students

1. PEP students must complete the PEP Dual Enrollment Agreement and provide proof of registration with an eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organization, pursuant to §§ 1002.01(2) and 1002.395. PEP students are afforded the same flexibility and opportunities as home education students, as outlined in Florida Statutes
   § 1002.41(3)–(12). PEP Dual Enrollment Agreement Updates are made annually and can be found by referencing this page.
2. This documentation can be completed within the Dual Enrollment Application Portal or, if submitting after admission, sent via email to DE@irsc.edu for processing by the Dual Enrollment Office.
3. All Dual Enrollment students must complete any required continuing onboarding documentation for the annual verification of status, typically applicable to Home School and PEP students.

Required Textbooks

Required textbooks are provided at no additional cost to public high schools, charter high schools, private schools, and homeschool students. 

• Textbooks for public high schools are provided by the School Districts and must be returned at the designated time each semester. Check with your high school guidance counselor for more information.
• All Private school, Home education, and PEP students must pick up their textbooks and the accompanying components by the published deadline for each term at the Indian River State College Bookstore.

Failure to return books by the published deadlines, will result in a hold on your registration and a charge against your account.
