ADULT EDUCATION
With over 30 years of experience, our Adult Education Program at Indian River State College is committed to empowering individuals through continuous evolution and adaptation to community needs.

Join the Adult Ed Community
Funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Education, our program provides affordable enrollment options for students. We partner with local organizations, including the Migrant Farmworker Program, CareerSource, and the Educational Opportunity Center, to offer financial aid to qualifying participants.
Our Adult Education Program assists both local residents and newcomers in achieving their goals, whether that involves obtaining a GED® or enhancing English language skills to unlock further educational and career opportunities.
We offer two primary courses: GED® Preparation and English as a Second Language (ESL). Both programs feature a range of scheduling options, including in-person, evening, online, and hybrid classes. Additionally, we provide Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs for qualifying students, ensuring a seamless transition into the workforce. Our dedicated staff, many of whom are bilingual and include program graduates, brings valuable experience to help students navigate their educational journey.
Workforce Preparation
Workforce Preparation Though Integrated Education and Training
At Indian River State College, we are proud to offer various IET programs that provide college-level courses tailored to specific career paths. Our adult education program includes dual enrollment opportunities, allowing students to access courses such as the Commercial Driver’s License, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy, and the College Credit Certificate in Business Specialist. The Business Specialist program, exclusive to our GED® students, consists of two semesters of college-level classes, providing students with 12 college credit hours that can apply to an associate’s degree upon completion. These programs are aligned with the high-demand job markets in the Treasure Coast area, equipping our students for success beyond their adult education experience.
At Indian River State College, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that empowers individuals to achieve their educational and career aspirations. Our Adult Education Program is not just about acquiring skills; it’s about building a pathway to a brighter future. We invite you to join us in this journey, where our experienced staff and comprehensive programs will guide you every step of the way. Together, we can unlock new opportunities and create a stronger community for all.
Adult Education offers and Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program where students can earn industry certifications and prepare for the workforce while completing their English or GED Prep course.
Flexible Scheduling
We offer a variety of schedules and modalities to accommodate our student. In-person classes are available in the mornings and evenings, and our program also offers hybrid and online classes.
“I love my class. I am improving my pronunciation and the teacher encourages us to work together so we have the opportunity to meet other people who have moved to this country. We are improving our English every day.”
