Theatre, music, concerts, and live performances — the Performing Arts program at Indian River State College (The River) enriches our students and enhances the cultural life of the Treasure Coast community.
Arts and cultural programs at Indian River State College aren’t just for students. Our performances are open to the public, and we invite you to experience live theatre, musical performances, and special events at the McAlpin Fine Arts Center in Fort Pierce.

The 46th Performing Arts Season
Experience the 46th Performing Arts Season at Indian River State College, featuring theatre productions, musical performances, instrumental concerts, and special events performed by the talented students of the Performing and Visual Arts Department.
This season blends hilarious comedy, classic musical theatre, and vibrant live concerts.
Highlights include:
- The Understudy – A backstage comedy about egos, exes, and theatrical chaos.
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum – Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical comedy set in Ancient Rome.
- The Dispute – A witty battle of the sexes exploring love, jealousy, and human nature.
- Memory – The River Sings Andrew Lloyd Webber – An elegant evening of cabaret celebrating the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Featuring selections from some of his most celebrated musicals – including Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sunset Boulevard and The Woman in White – this captivating showcase highlights the unforgettable songs that helped shape modern musical theatre.

The season also features exciting instrumental performances showcasing the musical talent of Indian River State College students.
Sounds of the Season
Celebrate the holidays with a festive concert featuring classical and jazz holiday favorites performed by student ensembles.
Stage and Screen: Music from Broadway and Film
Enjoy iconic music from Broadway and Hollywood brought to life through instrumental performance.
These concerts highlight collaborations between Indian River State College musicians and the Port St. Lucie Community Band performers.

In addition to the mainstage productions, the season includes special performing arts events.
Spring Flings
A vibrant dance performance presented in partnership with Ballet Vero Beach, featuring works by renowned choreographers and contemporary dance pieces.
