ARTS AND CULTURE
Theater, music, lecture series, planetarium programs, student organizations — arts and culture at the River enrich our students and enhance our community.

Arts and cultural programs at Indian River State College aren’t just for students. They’re open to everyone. We invite you to take in a performance, gaze at the stars, listen to a lecture, and more.
Indian River State College Performing Arts
The 46th Season
Dive into the 46th Season of Indian River State College Performing Arts! Let the river transport you to a world of theatrical mayhem and melodic melodies featuring the talented students of the Performing and Visual Arts Department at Indian River State College. This year, we bring you hilarious mishaps, tangled love stories, and heart-pounding harmonies.
Passionate comedy abounds in The Understudy, a backstage battle of egos and exes where tempers fly and amorous flames are fanned. The Dispute, a witty war of the sexes, will have you swirling in romantic entanglements and the joys and heartaches of first love.
This season’s musicals are awash in comic chaos and lyrical melodies at their finest. You’re sure to enjoy the non-stop, mad-cap mayhem of Sondheim’s classic musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, an uproarious farce set in Ancient Rome that epitomizes its most iconic song, “Comedy Tonight.” With original songs blending jazz, blues, and rock styles, you’ll revel in The World Premiere of Alexander Nathan Kanter’s Get Thee to a Nunnery, or Measure for Measure the Musical, an original adaptation of Shakespeare’s “problem play” Measure for Measure.
Instrumental concerts take center stage this season in two vibrant concerts. Sounds of the Season invites you to soak in the spirit of the holiday season with a variety of chamber ensembles performing both jazz and classical music with a holiday theme. Stage and Screen: Music from Broadway and Film will carry you away in a rush of cinematic flair and theatrical charm, showcasing the expressive power of instrumental music.
In addition to our mainstage lineup, don’t miss our special events: Tis the Season – A Holiday Event combining music and stargazing, and Spring Flings, a vibrant dance performance in partnership with Ballet Vero Beach. With world premieres, timeless classics, and festive favorites, this season promises unforgettable experiences for all ages.
