Angelica Mercedes Named November 2018 Staff Employee of the Month

Indian River State College recognizes Port St. Lucie resident Angelica Mercedes as the November 2018 Staff Employee of the Month. Angelica first joined the IRSC family in June of 2015 working as an Institutional Assistant with the IRSC Foundation. In November 2016 she joined the Accounts Receivable team lead by Jacquelyn Green as an Accounts Receivable Specialist working part-time. Promoted in February 2017, Angelica now serves full-time as an Accounts Receivable Specialist.
Angelica is known for her hard work and quick learning style. She strives to foster student success in all she does, working diligently to help students process their Florida Prepaid funds. Advancing from a work-study position to a part-time—and now full-time—position in Accounts Receivable, Angelica demonstrates a true growth mindset. She accomplished all of this while exceling both as a student in her classes and in the workplace as a committed IRSC employee.
Angelica models superior customer service skills. She demonstrates attention to detail, a positive attitude, and an excellent work ethic. Angelica strives to improve student and community relations and is helpful and kind to every student or employee that crosses her path. With Angelica, there is no such thing as a “dumb” question. She makes people feel comfortable to work with her. Angelica will get the task at hand done quickly and right the first time, each time. She is known as a proficient problem-solver.
Angelica’s co-workers eagerly share how she makes a difference in the Accounts Receivable Department and with student success each day. “Angelica’s service in Accounts Receivable positively impacts our department because I know I can always count on her to get the job done FAST!” Another shares, “Having had experience working as an Institutional Assistant with the Foundation, Angelica is always very friendly, kind, and helpful!” Finally another co-worker says, “Angelica is a great addition to this college and we are lucky to have her working with us in Accounts Receivable!”
