Elaine Howell Named January 2019 Staff Employee of the Month

Indian River State College recognizes Indiantown resident Elaine Howell as the January 2019 Staff Employee of the Month. Elaine joined the IRSC family in May 2002 part-time as an adjunct with Adult Education. In August 2004 she joined the team at the Chastain Campus to work full-time as a Clerk I. Starting November 2006, Elaine became a part of the Academic Support Center (ASC) at Chastain in the role of Developmental Education Specialist. Since August 2014 Elaine has worked in a leadership position as the Academic Support Center Manager in the Chastain ASC.
As the ASC Manager at Chastain, Elaine is passionate about ensuring every student succeeds. Those who work with Elaine know her dedication to the students who rely on the services and support provided through the ASC. These services are extensive resources—such as free tutoring, workshops, review sessions, computer use and assistance, and special needs equipment. These services can make the difference in a student’s success, paving the way for them to achieve their educational and future career goals.
Those who work with Elaine eagerly share the impact she has on the Chastain Campus, the ASC, and the students she works with daily. One co-worker shares, “Elaine just does an amazing job!” Continuing they state, “She is very helpful, gets along well with all our students, instructors, and everyone else she comes in contact with.” Another says, “Elaine’s dedication is obvious when you see the great work she is doing alongside the ASC team.” Finally one co-worker declares, “There are so many wonderful people working with students at Chastain and in the ASC, but Elaine truly stands out!”
