Scott Lenhard is the January 2021 Staff Employee of the Month

Fort Pierce resident Scott “Scotty” Lenhard is the Indian River State College January 2021 Staff Employee of the Month. Scotty began employment with the College in January 2002, serving as a Maintenance I worker at the Pruitt Campus before his promotion and transfer to Maintenance II/HVAC Technician on the Massey Campus in Fort Pierce. In September 2004, Scotty earned a promotion to Maintenance III/HVAC Technician—the role he serves today.

Scotty is a valued member of the IRSC team, contributing his 19 years of expertise and professionalism to the Physical Plant department. More than just a co-worker, Scotty serves as a mentor to both new and old employees alike. While specializing in HVAC work and repair—vital systems to daily operations in the South Florida climate—Scotty is a genuine “Jack of all trades” that can do just about any job needed in the Physical Plant department.

In addition to his HVAC responsibilities, Scotty works on Access Management issues on campus that include lock and key repair, access management lockdowns, as well as door and hardware controls. He also contributes to many remodeling and new construction projects using his considerable carpentry, drywall and electrical skills. Scotty is also a part of the Physical Plant team that works before, during and after Commencements to ensure these significant ceremonies run smoothly.

When preparing the campus for severe weather situations, Scott is always ready to jump in and help. He is one of the first people to arrive at the College in advance of a storm and is one of the last ones to leave—ensuring the operations can return to normal as quickly as possible. Scotty has earned multiple certificates of training on topics such as ‘Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace,’ ‘Bloodborne Pathogens Safety’ and ‘Bleeding Control Basics.’

Those who work with Scotty are the first to express his positive impact on the Facilities and Maintenance team and the entire College. One co-worker states, “Scotty jumps right in as a genuine team player who helps with all sorts of repairs without complaint. His positive attitude makes a real difference in our daily routine.” Another adds, “Scotty is a natural leader, and I am so proud to have him as part of our team.” Finally, one co-worker shares, “He’s just an awesome employee, and I am honored to work with him!”
