Joey (Augustus) Simonelli Named June 2018 Staff Employee of the Month

Palm City resident Joey (Augustus) Simonelli, Custodian I, Pruitt Campus, Port St. Lucie, is being recognized as the Indian River State College June Employee of the Month. Joining the IRSC Custodial Team in August of 2013, today Joey works at the Pruitt Campus in St. Lucie West where he helps keep one of the busiest IRSC campuses in top condition.

Each day Joey comes to work at the Pruitt Campus with the high-energy initiative necessary to keep Pruitt Campus and the STEM Center prepared for VIP visits. Joey consistently seizes the initiative, prioritizes his work and stays on task until the job is complete. He takes his custodial care very seriously proactively pointing out potential problem areas before they become serious issues. Joey is the quintessential team player striving to do whatever it takes to support his coworkers and supervisor. Simply put, he epitomizes the definition of a team player by never hesitating to go that extra mile by taking on an additional responsibility to support his coworkers.

Joey doesn’t hesitate to volunteer for special projects like setting up for special events. As a matter of fact, Conference center director Angela Lal seeks Joey out to work at VIP caliber events in the Schreiber’s CORE and the STEM’s Research Coast Auditorium. Joey not only meets, but exceeds the high standards needed for these events at both facilities. Even if special events or emergencies pull him away from regularly-assigned duties, he always finishes his regular assignments before departing for the day.

Joey’s coworkers share how his conscientious attitude and dedicated service on the job assists everyone at Pruitt Campus. One co-worker shares that Joey is always willing to help out. “Considerate is Joey’s middle name!” Another person states, “Joey is a valuable and well-loved member of our Pruitt team and family.” They continue sharing that “Joey will do whatever he can to help employees and students.”
