Bernadette Serafin Named May 2018 Staff Employee of the Month

Indian River State College recognizes Jensen Beach resident Bernadette Serafin, Conference Center Specialist III,
Chastain Campus, Stuart, as the May 2018 Staff Employee of the Month. Bernadette started at IRSC in April
2004 as a Conference Center Specialist, and today serves in that role on the Chastain
Campus as Conference Center Specialist III where she schedules events and facilities
use along with all the necessary behind-the-scenes work to make best use of the in-demand
facilities at the Chastain Campus.
Bernadette is known for her hospitality and welcoming demeanor. Those traits help her regularly facilitate numerous events, programs, and classes in the Clare and Gladys Wolf High Technology Center — a highly sophisticated multi-use center used to prepare students for high skill, high wage careers and serve the community as a first-rate conference center for business and community use. In her role as Conference Center Specialist III, Bernadette consistently provides prompt, courteous service for those who make use of the facilities.
During the often busy scheduling times in both the fall and spring semesters, Bernadette is never remiss in scheduling rooms and making sure College facilities are used to their fullest potential. Bernadette is known for being incredibly helpful and aids with planning, arranges rooms, and responds quickly and cheerfully to each request.
Those who work with Bernadette happily share how she makes a positive impact daily on the Chastain Campus. One co-worker affirms this stating, “As a new employee here at Chastain, I know ‘Bernie’ has and always will help me acquire information to facilitate any need I have at Chastain.” They continue, “Her smiling, cheerful face is always a welcome sight!” Another co-worker states, “When planning an event at Chastain, Bernadette always gets back to us in a timely manner showing a real interest in our event needs.” One more of Bernadette’s co-workers adds, “Bernadette is a shining example of the best that IRSC employees offer, striving to meet and exceed expectations in all she does.”
