Stephanie Skidmore is the August 2019 Staff Employee of the Month

Stuart resident Stephanie Skidmore is being recognized as the Indian River State College August Employee of the Month. Stephanie joined the IRSC Athletics Department in April 2012 part-time as the Head Volleyball Coach. She quickly became an indispensable part of the College’s Athletics team. In July of 2012 her position became full-time, and in August of 2016 Stephanie was named the Part-time Assistant Athletic Director for Student Retention and Completion—complementing her role as Head Volleyball Coach and allowing her to further contribute her talents to the entire Athletics Department.

Serving in her two roles, Stephanie has been an integral part of the Athletics Department surge in course success, graduation and retention rates. Her role as Supervisor of the Lead Academic Coordinator has been instrumental in the implementation of ideas that promote the continued increase in student success in all areas of academics and college goals—directly relating to state initiatives regarding funding support for our students. As the Head Volleyball Coach, her teams have won the President’s Skull Award five years in-a-row, culminating with the 2019 team winning with a record high GPA of 3.60. Understanding the culture of IRSC and the high expectations placed on her have only strengthened Stephanie’s will to assist all students she works with each academic year.

Those working with Stephanie daily are quick to remark on the impact she has on College’s Athletics program and student success. “Stephanie remains consistently positive and is persistent in working with students. Those attributes make our students more confident.” Another co-worker shares, “as a coach and working with students on completion and retention, there is no one more committed to student success than Stephanie.” Finally, another co-worker adds, “Coach Skidmore is a very worthy candidate for the recognition of this honor!”
