We’ll help you tackle the challenges you face throughout your college career so that you reach graduation day prepared for the next step in your STEM educational journey.

The STEM Pioneers program is for students from St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin or Okeechobee counties who are pursuing an associate’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields, including:
- Agriculture (General)
- Biology (General)
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- Physics
Prepare to Transfer
The STEM Pioneers program is designed to help you transfer to a STEM undergraduate degree program at four-year institutions after you earn your associate’s degree from Indian River State College.
As a STEM Pioneer, you’ll receive specialized academic and personal support to help you reach this goal, including:
- STEM success coaches who will assist with educational planning, graduation, transfer, and support
- Learning assistants in your classes to provide course support and assistance
- Undergraduate research experiences for first- and second-year students
- Internships with thoroughly vetted community partners
- Workshops for academic and career preparation, including resume assistance
- Co-curricular activities, STEM career exploration, and career preparation
- The Learning Commons—student-friendly spaces to complete coursework, study collaboratively with classmates, and connect with librarians and tutors,
- Access to resources through our loaner laptop and graphing calculator program
The STEM Pioneers program is made possible with the help of a $4,961,238 Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM and Articulation Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
