Performance: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Indian River State College Performing and Visual Arts Department is thrilled to announce this year’s summer production of Shakespeare’s magical comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, June 10 – 12, 2021. One of Shakespeare’s most beloved and popular comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a magically enchanting romp containing a little something for everyone. From runaway romantics to feuding fairies, Midsummer combines slapstick hilarity with spectacle and poetry. Friendships are tried, love potions applied, and a man even becomes donkey-fied, but all turns out well in the end, as we realize that everything that has happened may have just been a fanciful dream. This production is an immersive theatrical experience, taking place in various locations outside the McAlpin Performing Arts Center on the Massey Campus in Fort Pierce, with the audience moving along with the actors from scene to scene. Midsummer is the inaugural production of the "Summer ShakesPierce" program, which will bring high school and college students together each summer to create an innovative Shakespeare production.
