Many graduates will continue their education in a certificate or degree program at IRSC. “Students enrolled in the Adult Education program have the opportunity to simultaneously begin their career while completing their high school credential,“ explains Dr. Kelly Amatucci, IRSC Assistant Dean of the School of Education. “Ongoing support is provided through mentoring and career inventories. Financial support is also available for students in need who would like to register for college courses.” This year, the IRSC Foundation awarded 27 students with scholarships totaling more than $30,000.

Twelve members of the Class of 2019 were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society. They were selected by faculty for outstanding cooperation, attendance, perseverance and self-reliance in the GED® Preparation Program. Inductees include Okacha Brown, Rebeca Rada Canales, Cheyenne Carpenter, Jeremiah Clarke, Coreyanne De Lange, Inez Wright Elliott, John Granados, Gloriues Hartfield, Jonathan I Hooper, Daniela Martin, Kathryn Padgett, Evens Pierre, Samantha Quintero and Analiza Southard.

This year’s recipient of the Ann Polk Memorial Scholarship is Krista Hussey, who will complete the Nursing Assistant Career Training Program this summer to prepare for the Registered Nursing program at IRSC. The scholarship is presented annual to a student majoring in education, early childhood education or nursing.

In addition to GED® Preparation, IRSC Adult Secondary Education also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.  For more information, call the IRSC Call Center at 1-866-792-4772 or visit http://aecp.irsc.edu.
