Fort Pierce, FL (June 11, 2025) - The Indian River State College McAlpin Performing Arts Center (3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981) proudly announces the highly anticipated 46th Performing Arts season! The 2025–2026 season delivers a captivating blend of beloved theatrical masterpieces and exciting regional debuts, transforming the Treasure Coast into a premier destination for live entertainment. Prepare to experience exceptional artistry, compelling narratives, and the finest theater right here in our community!

SUBSCRIPTION SERIES

The 2025–2026 subscription series features these productions with performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.:

October 23 – 26, 2025 

The Understudy by Theresa Rebeck (Comedy) 

When stage manager Roxanne shows up to train the new understudy for her Broadway show, she discovers the producers have hired her ex-fiancé, Harry. Tempers fly, egos bruise, and flames are fanned as Roxanne, Harry, and Hollywood B-lister Jake try to get through the understudy rehearsal without losing their cool, their jobs, or their love for the theatre. December 4 – 7, 2025 

Sounds of the Season!(Instrumental Concert) 

Celebrate the magic of the holidays during this festive concert featuring the talented student musicians of Indian River State College. Enjoy a variety of chamber ensembles performing both jazz and classical music with a holiday theme. You’ll love this heartwarming performance of traditional favorites and fresh interpretations that capture the spirit of the season! [G]

February 26 – March 1, 2026 

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum by Stephen Sondheim, Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart (Musical) 

Ever had one of those days? You fall in love with the girl next door, discover she’s a courtesan promised to a pompous general, and need your clever servant to help you elope before your parents discover what’s going on? No? Then you’re sure to enjoy one of the funniest musical comedies ever written (and Sondheim’s first major success). This non-stop, madcap, Ancient Roman farce truly epitomizes its most iconic and famous opening song, “Comedy Tonight.” [PG] 

March 26 – 29, 2026 

Stage & Screen: Music from Broadway and Film  (Instrumental Concert) 

In this vibrant tribute to Broadway and Hollywood music, the student musicians of Indian River State College will present an engaging evening filled with cinematic flair and theatrical charm. The concert will feature a range of performances, from intimate chamber works to upbeat jazz numbers, showcasing the versatility and expressive power of instrumental music. [G]

April 23 - 26, 2026  

The Dispute by Marivaux (translated by Alex Kanter) (Comedy) 

This delightful battle of the sexes comedy asks who is more likely to be unfaithful in a relationship – men or women. Four complete innocents, raised in total isolation from the outside world, meet and experience the joys and heartaches of first love, bitter betrayal, and fast friendship in this world premiere of a new translation of Marivaux’s original play from 1744. [PG] 

June 18 – 21, 2026 

6th Annual Summer ShakesPierce:  Get Thee to a Nunnery, or Measure for Measure the Musical by Alex Kanter (Musical) 

Experience the world premiere of Kanter’s fully-staged, original musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s scintillating “problem play” – Measure for Measure. Isabella, a soon-to-be Nun, must save her overly amorous brother from death row by sleeping with the lustful interim Duke Angelo.  With the help of a colorful cast, Isabella navigates these treacherous waters while trying to preserve her honor in this exciting musical with original songs blending jazz, blues, and rock styles. [PG-13]

Mark your calendars for our upcoming ticket release schedule. Current season subscribers will have an exclusive two-week renewal window from Wednesday, June 18, through Tuesday, July 1, ensuring you can secure your seats before anyone else. New season subscriptions will then become available starting July 2, offering newcomers the chance to join our subscription family and enjoy guaranteed seating and significant savings. All remaining tickets, including individual show purchases, will go on sale Monday, July 14, opening access to the public.

Tickets are available for purchase individually for $20 or as a season package for $100, with a Senior/Veteran discount of $17 for individual tickets when purchased in person at the Box Office or over the phone.

‘Tis the Season - 3rd Annual Holiday Event  

Join us for the 3rd Annual Indian River State College Performing Arts and Hallstrom Planetarium holiday event at 1 p.m. Experience the joy of the holidays with Sounds of the Season, a festive instrumental concert showcasing the incredible talents of our students. Cap off your Yuletide afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Hallstrom Planetarium with the sparkling show, Ornaments in the Sky, illuminating the beautiful celestial wonders visible during this special time of year. Holiday reception sponsored by the Indian River State College Alumni Association. [G]

Spring Flings 

Ballet Vero Beach in partnership with Indian River State College Performing Arts presents a special event that promises pop, precision, and perpetual motion. Spring Flings has something for everyone! George Balanchine’s original version of Valse Fantaisie makes its company premiere alongside Adam Schnell’s flirty ABBAsolutely (set to the music by the famous Swedish Pop group), and Matthew Lovegood’s lush and windswept Caprice returns after an absence of several seasons. Prepare to be dazzled! [G]
