Regarding the Future of College Athletic Programs

Okeechobee, Fla. (October 27, 2026) — We have seen and heard the concerns raised by our students, alumni, and the community at large regarding our proposal to eliminate both the Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving programs next year.
During today’s meeting, several options and questions were raised that we want to explore, and as a result, we decided to delay our decision. In the best interest of the college, our students, and the communities we serve, the board will consider the options shared today and revisit our proposed plans before our next meeting in November.

Indian River State College will provide information about how students, alumni, and community members can share their feedback as the College continues its review.
