IRSC Hosts Welding Open House April 28

The Indian River State College (IRSC) Welding Technology program is hosting a special open house Wednesday, April 28, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Kight Center for Emerging Technologies, Room V-110, on the IRSC Massey Campus at 3209 Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce.
At the open house, participants will learn about welding careers, certifications they can earn, and industry partners with our program. There will also be an opportunity to meet faculty and tour welding facilities on campus.
Students in the IRSC Welding Technology program train as a cohort for 1,050 hours over 14 months. This training consists of hands-on welding experience and classroom theory. Instruction in Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Cored Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding processes, as well as equipment setup, fabrication techniques, metallurgical understanding, and inspection.
Students will have the opportunity to obtain American Welding Society (AWS) certifications. AWS certifications provide the possibility to earn more money and leadership roles. Upon completion of the program, students can find employment in a variety of areas, some include but are not limited to building construction, manufacturing, industrial maintenance and repair, structural steel, sheet metal, boilermakers, rigs, pipefitting, motorsports and shipyards.
