Performing Arts Program Announces New Season, Celebrates 40 Years in the McAlpin

Join the Indian River State College (IRSC) Performing Arts program for the 2019–20 season, which marks 40 years of performing arts in the McAlpin Theatre. In that time, hundreds of students have shared their love and discipline, flooding the McAlpin stage with exuberant energy and theatre magic to the delight of thousands of patrons who have laughed, clapped and shared their in boundless pursuit of excellence in the arts.
IRSC Performing Arts students have shared their love and discipline for the arts, flooding the McAlpin Fine Arts Center state with exuberant energy and theatre magic for thousands of patrons over the last 40 years.
Featuring seven shows for $70, the McAlpin OnSTAGE! series provides the best variety and value of shows available anywhere on the Treasure Coast. Subscription for the series are now on sale. Series shows are performed in the recently remodeled IRSC McAlpin Fine Arts Center, a 620-seat venue featuring a proscenium stage and orchestra pit, located on the Main Campus in Fort Pierce. Individual tickets to McAlpin OnSTAGE! shows can be purchased starting September 4 for $15.
This year, the seven-show McAlpin OnSTAGE subscription series will bring music to life with shows such as A Tribute to the Movies and Broadway (Dec. 5, 6 & 7), and share laughter with comedies like Barefoot in the Park (Jan. 9, 10 & 11) and the Hotbed Hotel (April 9, 10 & 11). The series features one of musical theater’s most popular shows—IRSC Performing Arts Program production of Grease (Feb. 20, 21, 22 & 22).
Shows not a part of the subscription series are also available during the season. This year, additional shows include the choir concert Music for the Ages (Nov. 23), a Student Dance Concert (April 15 & 16) and more. Those who enjoy a more immersive theater experience won’t want to miss Henrik Ibsen’s great social drama Hedda Gabler (Oct. 17, 18 & 19) at the Wynne Black Box Theatre—a flexible and intimate 100-seat theater that allows the audience to surround the stage.
The seven-show McAlpin OnSTAGE! subscription series is $70. Additional shows can be added to a subscription for just $10. Individual tickets for McAlpin OnSTAGE! are $15 each. Tickets to non-series shows are $5 or $15. Tickets for all shows can be purchased online at www.irsc.edu or at the IRSC box office (Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or by phone.
The IRSC box office is located on the Main Campus at 3209 Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce. For the convenience of patrons, the box office is open one hour prior to performance time for ticket sales and to pick up “will call” tickets.
