Emlyn Anderson is the 2021 Harriet Kirk Crago Faculty Member of the Year

Emlyn Anderson, Master Instructor in Health Sciences and HOSA Faculty Advisor was presented with the 2021 Harriett Kirk Crago Faculty of the Year Award at the Student Leadership and Engagement (SEAL) Awards Ceremony held Wednesday, April 14. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon an instructor, nominated by students, who exhibits expertise in the classroom and warmth and enthusiasm that has significantly enhanced the quality of life at IRSC.

Emlyn began her career with the College as a Health Science Program Specialist in September 2012. She then joined the Health Science faculty in January of 2014 as an Adjunct Instructor and to serve as the Nursing Lab Manager. Today Emlyn serves as a Master Instructor in Health Sciences, a position she has held since August of 2017.

Emlyn’s students and colleagues know her to be a caring, reliable, dedicated, and student-centered instructor who strives to set a friendly, professional example for her students. Her courses are well organized and focused on her students’ successes. Emlyn is committed to provding her students with opportunities offered by HOSA to grow both academically and professionally. This year, Emlyn has been recognized as Club Advisor of the Year for HOSA, which earned the distinction as the Club of the Year and as an Outstanding Chapter Advisor–Postsecondary (State of Florida) at the HOSA State Leadership Conference

Emlyn’s students are always eager to share how her dedication and commitment to student success impact them. One student shares, “Professor Anderson’s dedication to our College and the HOSA organization has inspired me to do my very best.” Another adds, “Professor Anderson always says that no what position you may find yourself in the future, do the very best you can. She is always ready and willing to do whatever it takes to help us.” Finally, one student enthusiastically affirms, “Professor Anderson is truly a teacher who goes the extra mile for her students. I absolutely love her classes!”
