Dr. Robin Zide is the 2022 Harriet Kirk Crago IRSC Faculty Member of the Year

FORT PIERCE—Dr. Robin Zide, Assistant Professor and Department Chair for the Indian River State College (IRSC) School of Education, was presented with the 2022 Harriett Kirk Crago Faculty of the Year Award at the Student Leadership and Engagement (SEAL) Awards Ceremony held Wednesday, April 13 at the Bailey Auditorium at the IRSC Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex in Fort Pierce. The recognition is awarded to an instructor selected from the Faculty of the Month honorees nominated by students each academic year. The recipient exhibits both expertise in the classroom and enthusiasm and warmth that significantly enhances the quality of life at IRSC.

Dr. Zide joined IRSC in January 2015 as a full-time Faculty member in the Department of Education as a Math Specialist. She is also a State of Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, a Certified Chopra Center Meditation Instructor, and a Mind/Body Fitness trainer. Zide earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership, Master of Science in Math Education, a Master of Art in Gerontology, and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. She is currently working on a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Management with a concentration in Energy and Sustainability.

She holds certifications in Personal Strength Training, Nutrition, Primordial Sound Meditation, and Authentic Life Wellness. Dr. Zide has given wellness training to the Tampa Justice Center, SunTrust Bank, Hippocrates Health Institute’s Comprehensive Cancer Program, Suncoast Mental Health Centers, The Agriculture and Labor Program, IRSC Student Government, IRSC Student Engagement & Leadership (SEAL) Team, IRSC Wellness Center, and IRSC Professors within the Institute for Academic Excellence, as well as other events in the community.

Additionally, she has enjoyed collaborative work with leaders in the wellness field that include Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Janet Hranicky the Founder and President of The American Health Institute, Mike Rickett of Application in Motion, and Mary Barnes of Alzheimer’s Community Care.

Students of Dr. Zide speak with great enthusiasm regarding how her dedication and commitment impacted their success at IRSC. “Dr. Zide is focused on students and listens to what students are having trouble with. I enjoyed her teaching style as it gave me clear direction on what I was doing,” states one student. Another student shares, “I never enjoyed taking a math class, but Professor Z changed that. She is funny and makes up great ways to remember certain formulas—which helped a lot.” Finally, one student affirms, “Dr. Zide is incredibly helpful and always tries to make more opportunities for her students. She is caring and wants you to succeed.”

Zide was selected as the recipient of the Harriett Kirk Crago Faculty of the Year Award from the following 2021-’22 Faculty of the Month recipients:
