New Initiative Connects More Area Residents with IRSC Financial Aid Opportunities

Indian River State College (IRSC) wants to ensure that everyone who seeks the opportunity to get a college degree receives the help and support they need. That’s why the College’s Financial Aid Office this week launched a new initiative to connect employees, clients and members of area organizations with opportunities to learn how to start college and increase their chances of starting new jobs, new careers or securing promotions.
IRSC financial aid advisors are now offering virtual and in-person workshops for employers, not-for-profit agencies, church groups and other organizations whose constituencies are seeking career and technical education and college-level credentials. Workshops are hosted at the organization’s convenience and can be conducted online—to allow prospective students to attend from anywhere—or in person, within CDC guidelines, at the Enrollment Center on the IRSC Massey Campus or at Blackburn Educational Building in Fort Pierce.
“IRSC is the most affordable college in Florida and the second-most affordable college in the United States,” says Mary Lewis, Director of Financial Aid. “Each year IRSC awards more than $40 million in financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships. There’s a great deal of opportunity for residents to advance their education at IRSC and create new opportunities for themselves and their families, and they can do so without financial hardship.”
Financial Aid Advisors, located at each of the IRSC campuses (Fort Pierce, Okeechobee, Port St. Lucie, Stuart and Vero Beach), help students find the resources to pursue their educational and professional goals. The results—91% of IRSC students graduate debt-free (U.S. New & World Report Best Colleges) and 96% of IRSC students are employed or continue their education soon after graduation.
