IRSC Celebrates Largest-Ever All-Florida Academic Team

FORT PIERCE—The Florida College System has named 16 high-achieving Indian River State College (IRSC) students as members of the 2022 All-Florida Academic Team for their academic achievements, leadership, and service to the community. These students represent the largest-ever All-Academic team in the College’s history and the second-largest team selected for the All-Florida team this year.

The following IRSC 2022 All-Florida Academic Team members were recognized at the IRSC District Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, March 22: Gavin Crum, Stuart; Chelsea Pennington, Stuart; Janelle Price, Port St. Lucie; Marissa Nichole Salguero, Palm City; Clara Breuer, Port St. Lucie; Ella Gates, Boyton Beach; Shelby Cheung, Fort Pierce; Hunter Cottone, Port St. Lucie; Salvina Dipaola, Port St. Lucie; Victoria Hamel, Fort Pierce; Desiree Colon, Vero Beach; Katerina Moyer, Sebastian; Mikelle Petersen, Vero Beach; Shannon Price, Port St. Lucie; Erik Bustamante, Port St. Lucie and Kayleigh Cunningham, Palm City.

In addition to being named a member of the All-Florida Academic Team, Kayleigh Cunningham was selected—from more than 2,000 applications this year—as a 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar. Cunningham earned this honor based on her scores in the All-USA Academic Team competition and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

All-Florida Academic Team students get nominated to the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. This year’s team of students were additionally recognized at the annual College awards Thursday, March 31, and during an Induction Ceremony held at the Florida College System Chancellor’s Celebration in Orlando on April 1, 2022.
