IRSC Welcomes Jamarra Robinson as Women's Basketball Coach
October 1, 2018 Robert Lane
Indian River State College (IRSC) announces Jamarra Robinson as the Head Coach for its Women’s Basketball Team. The Fort Pierce native begins immediately. Robinson previously served as the Head Coach for the women’s basketball team at St. Lucie West Centennial High School—a post she held since 2016.
During her two years at Centennial High School, the women’s basketball team earned back-to-back appearances in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) District Finals and advanced to the regional round in 2018 after being crowned District Champions. The 2017–’18 season also saw many individual honors for members of the team: Robinson named the FHSAA Coach of the Year for District 9 Class 2A and 2018 TC Palm Coach of the Year, and team member Lindsey O’Sullivan was nominated as 2018 TC Palm Player of the Year.
Robinson has developed strong community ties. “I plan on strengthening my relationships with the high school coaches I already know and respect. We have a great deal of talent in this area and I plan on making it my mission to keep local stars playing for the local college.” Robinson continues sharing, “We will build community relations with coaches, residents, and kids. I plan on enhancing summer basketball camps with more participants and having more community members at the games to cheer on the team as they compete for a Southern Conference Championship and a trip to the FCSAA Region VIII State Tournament.”
Additionally, Robinson gained valuable collegiate experience as an assistant coach at Indian River State College from 2014–2015 and at St. Petersburg College from 2015–2016. Her time in the college ranks gave her the opportunity to coach six FCSAA All-Southern Conference players and build a valuable network among the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VIII community.
