Amanda “Mandie” Finkelstein is the Indian River State College March 2024 Team Member of the Month. Mandie first joined the IRSC team in September 2020 as a part-time Chair Assistant in the Health Science Department before joining the College full-time in 2021 as a Clerk in the School of Nursing. In 2022, Mandie earned a promotion to Clinical Coordinator in the School of Nursing, where she still serves today.
Since taking her position as Clinical Coordinator, Mandie has consistently improved the admissions process for the School of Nursing. She has taken the process from paper to 100% electronic and is always looking for ways to streamline and improve procedures. In addition, she is responsible for the clinical clearance process for student clinical rotations, a role previously incumbent upon individual faculty members to complete.
Mandie is the first person students encounter in the School of Nursing, whether it be taking time to answer questions over the phone, through emails, or in person. She has a very welcoming way about her that immediately puts our students at ease as they navigate the challenges of getting started in the program. She is compassionate and listens to them when they are stressed before exams and grades, often offering a hug and words of encouragement.
Additionally, Mandie works across departments with advisors and anyone who speaks with students to help them better understand the School of Nursing program requirements.
Mandie’s colleagues share how integral to the School of Nursing Team she is. “Mandie is an extraordinary person who always has the time and patience for staff and students,” declares one co-worker. “Mandie always looks at the positive side of situations, she is quick to look for solutions should problems arise, and she is cheerful and always willing to help.” Others add, “Mandie is a welcome asset to our College.”
