Indian River State College Announces Intent to Implement NextRequest for Public Records Management

April 14, 2025 Indian River State College

Fort Pierce, FL (April 14, 2025) – Indian River State College announced today its intent to implement NextRequest, an advanced public records management software powered by CivicPlus, to enhance transparency and improve efficiency in handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and public records requests.

This strategic technology investment demonstrates Indian River State College’s commitment to open government principles and responsive community service. The NextRequest platform will modernize how the College processes, tracks, and fulfills public records requests while ensuring compliance with Florida's public records laws.

"At Indian River State College, we are committed to transparency and efficient service to our community," said Indian River State College President Timothy Moore. "Our planned implementation of NextRequest will allow us to streamline our public records process, reduce administrative burden, and provide faster responses to information requests from our students, media, and community members."

The planned NextRequest implementation is expected to bring several benefits to Indian River State College:

  • Centralized Online Portal: The public will be able to submit requests, track progress, and receive documents through a user-friendly digital portal, eliminating paper or email-based processes
  • Automated Workflows: Records requests will be automatically routed to appropriate departments and staff members, significantly reducing response times
  • Enhanced Security: Advanced redaction tools will automatically detect and protect sensitive information across multiple documents
  • Improved Transparency: The system will create a searchable public archive of previously released records, reducing duplicate requests
  • Comprehensive Tracking: Enhanced documentation of all request-related communications will support compliance with state regulations.

"CivicPlus is committed to empowering government agencies with tools that enhance transparency, streamline workflows, and foster greater trust within their communities,” said CivicPlus Vice President of Product Management Eric Grant.” By adopting NextRequest, Indian River State College is taking an exciting step toward supporting timely, compliant, and efficient management of public records requests. This partnership reflects our shared dedication to operational excellence and community engagement."

NextRequest was designed by former government leaders who understand the importance of public records management. CivicPlus is a leader in government technology solutions, providing purpose-built software for public agencies. NextRequest is their comprehensive FOIA and public records management platform designed to increase efficiency, compliance, and transparency for government organizations of all sizes. Software features include tracking communications for compliance verification, redirecting requestors to information already publicly available, and processing payments for applicable records fees electronically, to name a few.

"Implementation of a public records service system aligns with our digital transformation strategy at Indian River State College,” said Dr. Michael Hageloh, Indian River State College Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology not just in our classrooms, but across all aspects of our operations to better serve our community. Modern institutions require modern solutions, and we believe this software will help us take our customer service to the next level.”

"This planned implementation represents our commitment to providing exceptional service to our students, faculty, and community members," said Kathleen Walter, Indian River State College Public Information Officer. "NextRequest will enable us to respond to public records requests more efficiently, while making the process more convenient for everyone. We're excited to offer this improved level of service at the center of our public records process."

Indian River State College plans to begin implementation of the NextRequest platform this summer with the system expected to be fully operational this year.
