Swim Team Readies for Competition at 2019 NJCAA Championships in Buffalo NY March 6-9

The IRSC Swimming and Diving teams will compete for the opportunity to extend their amazing winning streak to 45 consecutive men’s swimming titles, while the women’s team aims to extend their total number of championship titles to 41 during the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Swimming and Diving Championships taking place March 6 to9 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.
The 2019 NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be live streamed live on the SUNY Erie Youtube Channel.
Student-athletes to watch for national records potential during this year’s meet include: Jarryd Baxter, Sule van der Merwe, Ruben van Leeuwen, Ryen van Wyk, and Camryn Hudson. Each of these athletes have hopes and opportunity to break national records at the meet.
So far during the 2018-19 season the team has earned four national records with Jarryd Baxter earning top marks in the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle, and 1000 freestyle and Jarryd Baxter, Josh Stegen, Ryan Pilkington, Ruben van Leeuwen besting the past record in the 800 freestyle relay. Additionally Sule van der Merwe broke the school record in 500 freestyle.
