Randa Emmanuel is the January 2024 Team Member of the Month

Port St. Lucie resident Randa Emmanuel is the Indian River State College January 2023 Team Member of the Month. Randa first joined the IRSC team in January of 2021 to serve in the role of Instructional Support Specialist, first part-time and then full-time. Today, she serves as the Program Coordinator for CCAMPIS—leading the charge to provide IRSC low-income and Pell Grant-eligible student-parents access to childcare and wrap-around services to support their success.

The CCAMPIS program is designed to minimize barriers for low-income parent-students who are starting or completing a degree, certificate or career training program at IRSC by assisting with childcare expenses. This is an important need for these student-parents to be successful in their academic endeavors. The CCAMPIS team currently serves 83 student-parents and 102 children.

In Randa's role as CCAMPIS Program Coordinator, she calls each student-parent regularly to follow up on their academic progress and overall well-being. Thanks to Randa and the CCAMPIS team, student-parents have recognized that the CCAMPIS office is a “safe space” for them to discuss their needs and concerns. Randa’s genuine care and concern for her student-parents has allowed them to become successful in their academic journey and has made the program popular with the IRSC student community.

The student-parents and co-workers Randa works with happily share how well-regarded she is for her positive impact. “Randa and the CCAMPIS program has been a blessing to my family. It helped my husband and me since I was not able to work and help with finances. This was a huge blessing to us because daycare was so expensive, and I almost couldn't afford to be in nursing school as well,” shares one student-parent. A co-worker shares, “Randa is a caring and compassionate mentor to student-parents and her team. She is a motivated team member who encourages everyone to want to be their best.”
