The Indian River State College (IRSC) Women's Swimming and Diving Team has been named the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2019 semester. The recognition is awarded to teams achieving a 3.00 grade point average or above.
“This recognition exemplifies what our department strives to achieve on an annual basis—success in the classroom and the pool,” shares Scott Kimmelman, IRSC Athletic Director.
The IRSC Swimming and Diving Team holds a set of records unrivaled in athletics. The River has built a record of 45 consecutive men’s titles, and 41 overall and 37 consecutive wins for the women’s team. This unmatched performance continues the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streak in any sport at the collegiate level.
"Coach Sion Brinn has built a program that is a model of success in the pool and classroom," states CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)—the first organization of college coaches in America—is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
The CSCAA recognizes exceptional achievements by coaches and swimmers, promotes communication and cooperation within the sport of swimming and with fellow Olympic sports. They also protect, promote, and seek to expand competitive intercollegiate swimming programs and serve as a source of information to its membership and for the public.
