Indian River State College recognizes Port St. Lucie resident Dr. Nikia Robinson as the February Faculty Member of the Month. Nikia became part of the IRSC family in July of 2007 starting as a Testing Facilitator, joining IRSC Faculty in August 2007 when she was hired full-time as an Assistant Professor. Nikia earned her promotion to Associate Professor in August 2013.
Nikia brings a wealth of real world experience to the classroom, having previously worked in the Management, Legal, Medical and Educational realms, and her students frequently give her praise for how she helps make her course materiel relevant to them for the workplace. A graduate of FAMU (A.A.), FAU (B.B.A.), Ashford University (M.B.A.), Nikia earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Management Information Systems from Northcentral University. Nikia is certified by the District Board of Trustees of Indian River State College to teach Office Systems Technology (technical specialty level), Employability Skills (technical specialty level), Business Management (baccalaureate level), and Computer Science (pre-baccalaureate level). She additionally is certified by the Florida Department of Education in Business Education.
Above and beyond her instructional responsibilities in the classroom, Nikia has given her time to serve as an advisor for Phi Beta Lambda’s (FBLA-PBL) IRSC chapter. Nikia also served as a Senior Counselor for Expanding Horizons, and since 2014, works as an Instructor for Clark Advanced Learning Center Techknow Camp. Nikia is married and has one daughter. She loves people and enjoys traveling. Her interests include technology, swimming, and rollerblading.
Nikia’s students readily share how her passion for their success engages them in class. “Professor Robinson is very understanding and compassionate with her students.” Another student adds, “I truly enjoyed her class as she is a respected, caring, and funny teacher. Best of all what you learn here is applicable in other classes and in the workplace!” Another declares, “Dr. Robinson is so great. She's helpful and nice. She’s the best professor!”
