Indian River State College is recognizing Port St. Lucie resident Shaun Wightman as the March Faculty Member of the Month. Shaun first joined IRSC faculty in January 2011 teaching as an Adjunct Professor in Graphic Design Technology prior to joining faculty full-time in August of 2011 as an Associate Professor.
Shaun is among the finest active learning instructors at IRSC. His students both respect and gravitate to him because of the positive energy he exudes and his mastery of the subject matter. Those who observe or experience Shaun’s teaching know he is an engaged, interactive, animated, and energetic instructor who always does something different to engage students in learning.
Shaun brings valuable talent and aptitude to the classroom. He has experience in character-based media, creating and animating characters for film, web, and video games. He also has a prolific fine arts career, showing in fine art galleries and film festivals worldwide. In addition to his daily responsibilities as an instructor, Shaun also leads the IRSC Commencement Committee.
Shaun earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Computer Animation and Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art and The Computer from the University of Central Florida. He co-owns the video game company, Astro Crow, serving as company’s Art Director. They released their first game “The Last Ace of Space” for iOS devices in 2011. In addition to his personal and professional accomplishments, Shaun and his wife Annie are featured in a Braman Mini Cooper commercial, which can be seen at www.bramanmini.com/mymini.
Students who take classes with Shaun readily share their experience. One such student says, “Professor Wightman wants his students to succeed in the field and will help any way possible.
