Barbering
Express yourself with the creativity, knowledge and hands-on experience you need for success in the cosmetology and barbering industry. The IRSC Barbering Career program training provides all of the necessary to become a professional barber or cosmetologist. Coursework includes haircutting, styling, mustache and beard design, shaving, chemistry of hair coloring, processes of hair and Florida law as it pertains to barbering and salon management.
Once You Complete the Program
Graduates work for a company, freelance, and even open their own businesses providing barbering services such as cutting, trimming, shampooing and styling hair, trimming beards and giving shaves.
Barbering Career Training
Students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs build increasingly sophisticated skills in both clock hour and college credit modules.
Indian River State College offers a number of different degrees and certificates leading to professional licensure in the state of Florida. Some professions require both certification and the successful completion of additional criteria such as licensure exams, field placements, or clinical hours. Student eligibility to apply to sit for the State Barber licensing exam in the State of Florida is defined in 476.144, F.S., and also includes possession of a valid form of identification and a social security number.
