Cosmetology
Express yourself with the creativity, knowledge and hands-on experience you need for success in the cosmetology and barbering industry. Coursework includes haircutting, styling, facials, manicuring and pedicuring, chemistry of hair coloring, processes of hair, Florida law as it pertains to cosmetology and salon management.
Once You Complete the Program
You will provide beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, and styling hair, and massaging and treating the scalp. You may also apply makeup, dress wigs, perform hair removal and provide nail and skin care services. You can work for a company or freelance your own business.

Indian River State College offers a number of different degrees and certificates leading to professional licensure in the state of Florida. Some professions require both certification and the successful completion of additional criteria such as licensure exams, field placements, or clinical hours. Student eligibility to apply to sit for the State Cosmetology licensing exam in the State of Florida is defined in 477.019, F.S., and also includes possession of a valid form of identification and a social security number.
