Remote Access Resources

Connecting to Class

Students can access the Canvas Learning Management System through their desktop and laptop computers and mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets. Students can also listen to lectures by phone through Canvas Collaborate.

Canvas is accessible directly through MyPioneerPortal

The Canvas Browser Support page gives some information about browser, devices, and operating systems.

The Canvas Student app allows students to access their courses and groups using a mobile device. Students can submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades, and access course materials. The app also provides access to course calendars, To Do items, notifications, and Inbox messages.

 

Canvas Student requires a Canvas account and is available for both Android and iOS devices. View the Canvas Student App Quick Start Guide to setup the app on your phone.


Canvas Resources

Students can download course content to be viewed offline! Make sure to download content when connected to wi-fi to avoid using data.

Technical support for Canvas is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via chat or toll- free at (877) 253-1481.

On-campus technical support is available from the Student Help Desk on Massey and Pruitt Campuses.

Online Tutoring and Study Resources

Access Brainfuse through the Tools menu in your Blackboard course. Online tutoring is offered 24/7 in a wide variety of subjects. You can submit a paper for review or drop in for a live session—the choice is yours!

The IRSC Academic Support Center offers tutoring services via Blackboard Collaborate. Virtual tutors are available in math, biology/AP, chemistry/physics, English and reading. Visit the Academic Support Center online to view the schedule and enter online tutoring sessions.

The IRSC Business Department now offers free virtual tutoring sessions via Collaborate. Tutors are available throughout the week to assist students with accounting and A.S. degree business course content. View tutoring schedules and access links to tutoring sessions here.

Study for exams online with your friends in your own personalized ASC virtual breakout room, using audio/video chat and e-learning tools. Moderators and tutors are available 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM to assist your study group and answer your questions.

Tips for Technical Issues

  1. Try a different browser.
  2. Perform a hard refresh on the webpage. (PC = Shift + F5 or MAC = Command + Shift + R)
  3. Clear cache and cookies. (This is different for each browser, use a search engine to look up steps.)
  4. Contact Canvas Support for a technical issue. Contact your instructor for content issues.
