IRSC HOSA Leaders Earn Accolades at 2022 HOSA State Leadership Conference

Leaders of the Indian River State College (IRSC) Chapter of Health Occupations Students of America returned from the HOSA State Leadership Conference after earning five gold medals, one bronze medal, and two prestigious scholarships. The conference—held April 9-12, 2022, at the Marriott World Center in Orlando—featured competition among 16 post-secondary intuitions and welcomed more than 2,500 HOSA members/competitors, advisors, and guests.

HOSA Team

The following IRSC HOSA students competed with other post-secondary institutions from around the state to earn the following accolades:

Dania Morse, B.S. Healthcare Management student from Port St. Lucie: gold medal placement in the competitive event “Health Informatics” and for “HOSA Happenings,” the chapter’s newsletter/scrapbook of achievements, leadership opportunities, and professional development.

Victoria Eniola, B.S. Biology (Pre-Med) student from Port St. Lucie: gold medal placement in the competitive event “Medical Law and Ethics” and “Courtesy Corp.” and was the recipient of a $600 HOSA Foundation Scholarship.

Aeyanna Lucero, B.S. Nursing student from Okeechobee: gold medal placement in the competitive event “Clinical Nursing” and was the recipient of the Judy Conlin Award—a $100 scholarship.

Hayden Mickley, B.S. Biology student from Hobe Sound: bronze medal placement in “Human Growth and Development.”

In addition to the individual student recognitions, Emlyn Anderson, IRSC Master Instructor, Health Sciences, and HOSA Faculty Advisor, earned recognition as Outstanding Chapter Advisor (Postsecondary) in the State of Florida for possessing traits such as dedication to students and a caring and encouraging personality.

All 4 IRSC students are now State of Florida HOSA Representatives and can continue to the final competition at the HOSA International Leadership Conference scheduled for June 22-25, 2022, in Nashville, TN. Congratulations to these outstanding IRSC and HOSA Leaders!
