High School Students: Get a Jump on a College Degree or Certificate with IRSC Dual Enrollment

January 23, 2024 Jon Pine

FORT PIERCE—High school students in the region have a unique opportunity to get a jump on a college degree—or even complete an Associate Degree or a career training certificate—by enrolling in courses at Indian River State College and receiving both high school and college credit. Best of all, it’s free.

Dual Enrollment Graduates

Thousands of students have participated in IRSC’s Dual Enrollment program, saving $500-600 or more per course than they would pay at a state university. Dual Enrollment students in public, public charter, private and home schools are exempt from tuition, application fees, and laboratory fees, and additionally receive textbooks at no cost to them.

Courses are offered at convenient times, and they are weighted the same as Advanced Placement, Advanced International Certificate of Education and International Baccalaureate courses. Credits earned through Dual Enrollment transfer to all Florida public universities and most other universities nationwide.
