Indian River State College Board of Trustees Takes Action on Key Initiatives

FORT PIERCE, FL (October 1, 2024) - The Indian River State College District Board of Trustees met on September 24, 2024 to discuss and act on several important matters affecting the College's future. The meeting was held at the College’s Mueller campus in Vero Beach.

  • Student Government Association (SGA) Report: Luke Sipple, SGA President, presented results from the Rebrand Student Opinion Survey, reflecting student feedback on the College’s strategic rebranding efforts. The SGA also reported record attendance at the Annual Club Rush and a successful first General Assembly honoring 9/11 heroes.
  • Approval of Clinical Affiliation Agreements: The Board approved several clinical affiliation agreements to provide Health Science students with additional clinical rotation opportunities. These partnerships include agreements with Dwight G.A. Dawkins, M.D., P.A., New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, Inc., St. Lucie and Okeechobee County Health Departments, and Quest Diagnostics Clinical Laboratories, Inc.
  • Independent Contractor Agreement: An independent contractor agreement with Shanna Stokes, MSN, APRN, was approved to provide instructional services for clinical, laboratory, and simulation experiences.
  • Other Actions:
  • Approval of the August 30, 2024 Board Meeting Minutes
  • Recognition of Clayton Young, September 2024 Team Member of the Month
  • Approval of updates to the 2024-2025 Indian River State College Holiday Calendar
  • Approval of various full-time appointments, separations of service, retirements, and part-time appointments

The next District Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for October 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Room A301 at the College’s main campus in Fort Pierce.

Caron (St. Lucie County); José L. Conrado (Indian River County); Vicki H. Davis (Martin County); Anthony D. George, Jr. (Martin County); Melissa D. Kindell, D.M.D. (Okeechobee County); and J. Brantley “Brant” Schirard, Jr. (St. Lucie County).
