Blockchain Technology Aims to Remove Barriers and Open New Opportunities for Students
FORT PIERCE, FL— Indian River State College today announced a partnership with GreenLight Credentials, a record-sharing platform that allows students to freely share their education records with anyone, anytime and accelerate their educational and career opportunities.
The three-year licensing agreement includes access to a suite of GreenLight technologies and tools for the more than 26,000 IRSC students and those studying in the surrounding school districts of Indian River, St Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties. These online tools—built on blockchain technology—give students the ability to dramatically expedite the process of entering higher education, all by using an app on their phones.
"Through this partnership, each student will get their own digital GreenLight Locker where they can access their official IRSC and K-12 transcripts, upload additional records and then instantly send those records to IRSC and our transfer partners, making the application and transfer submission process immeasurably smoother," states IRSC President Dr. Timothy Moore. "As students move from high school to college and into the workforce, verified digital learner records allow potential and current employers to match job openings and advancement opportunities with candidates possessing the credentials necessary to be successful in their organizations."
The College is making the technology available without cost to students in its service district. The record-sharing platform includes tools such as Enrollment Fast Pass for managing and tracking applications and a scholarship module that matches students to scholarships based on their profiles and interests. Degree Verification allows credential-issuing organizations and other third parties to verify academic records and credentials from multiple sources instantly. The technology will also help IRSC proactively find and engage with qualified, prospective students interested in enrolling at the institution.
"We are thrilled to partner with Indian River State College to bring GreenLight's blockchain-based platform to students in their community in Florida. Our partnership will make it easy for students to get into and stay in college while empowering tens of thousands of students to have instant access and control of their academic and health records," explained Manoj Kutty, CEO and founder of GreenLight Credentials. "With our powerful matching technologies, we provide students with college, career and scholarship opportunities, helping them attain their dreams."
