Following a welcome back breakfast and opportunity for faculty to reconnect with their colleagues among numerous greetings to wish a ‘happy new year,’ Dr. Heather Belmont, IRSC Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and CAO opened the occasion in the McAlpin Fine Arts Theatre, welcoming the audience and an incoming group of 31 new faculty.

“This group is incredible. They are inspiring,” Belmont declared as she welcomed IRSC’s newest faculty into the Pioneer family. “We have grads of IRSC, we have people that share this is their dream job—they feel like they hit the lottery. I’m going to tell you, (new faculty) I hit the lottery, IRSC hit the lottery, we are so happy you’re here!”

At the ceremony, six exceptional IRSC faculty members were honored with Endowed Teaching Chairs awarded though the Indian River State College Foundation (IRSCF). The endowed chairs recognize outstanding work by faculty members at IRSC and support new initiatives to benefit students and the community. The Anne R. Snyder Department Chair Excellence Award and Harriett Kirk Crago Faculty of the Year Award recipients were also recognized at the event.

Dr. Timothy Moore, IRSC President addressed the audience at the occasion. “This is the highlight of my year,” he proclaimed. “This group of professionals all together to do one thing—take a student that doesn’t believe in themselves and transform them into someone who is out there changing the world.”
