Haven’t Received Your RiverMail Activation Email?

You’ll receive your RiverMail activation email after your application has been fully submitted and processed.

Before contacting support, check these common issues:

    Is your application fully submitted?

RiverMail activation emails are not sent until your application has been completed and submitted.

    Complete Your Application

    Check your personal email

Your activation email is sent to the personal email address you used on your application. Be sure to check your inbox as well as your spam, junk or promotions folders.

    Has your activation link expired?

RiverMail activation links expire after 30 days. If your link has expired, contact Indian River State College for assistance.

Applied to a selective admissions program?

Some Selective Admissions programs have a different admissions process and timeline. Your RiverMail activation may be delayed until your application has been reviewed.

Were you previously a Dual Enrollment Student?

You may already have an active River Portal account. Try resetting your password using the steps below. If you still can’t access your account, contact the College for assistance.

    Resetting Your River Portal Password

If you can’t sign in to River Portal, you can reset your password using the self-service password reset tool.

    To reset your password:

    1. Go to the River Portal sign-in page.
    2. Select Need help signing in?
    3. Select Forgot password?
    4. Follow the prompts to reset your password.
    5. Return to River Portal and sign in with your new password.

If you’re unable to reset your password after following these steps, use Get Technical Help for assistance.

      Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

Multifactor authentication, or MFA, adds an extra layer of security to your River Portal account. In addition to your password, MFA asks you to use another method to verify that it’s really you signing in.

Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your verification method and complete enrollment.

      Access River Portal

      Getting a New Phone?

Set up MFA on your new phone before you trade in, erase or stop using your old phone.

Keeping access to your current verification method while setting up your new device can help prevent you from being locked out of River Portal.

If available, setting up more than one verification method can also give you a backup if you lose access to your primary device.

Lost Your Phone or Can’t Complete MFA?

If you’ve lost access to your MFA device or can’t reconfigure MFA through your account, you can use the self-service MFA reset tool to regain access.

The reset process uses your smartphone to verify your identity by comparing a selfie with a valid government-issued ID.

      Before You Start

      You’ll need:

      • A valid, unexpired government-issued ID
      • An ID that matches your legal name on file with Indian River State College
      • A camera-enabled smartphone that can scan a QR code
      • Internet or cellular network access on your smartphone

Your physical government-issued ID is required. A student ID or a photo of your ID cannot be used for this verification process.

If you don’t have a valid ID or access to a smartphone that meets these requirements, select Get Technical Help for assistance.

      How to Reset Your MFA

Step 1: Sign In to River Portal

Go to River Portal and sign in with your River Portal username and password.

If you don’t know your password, select Forgot password? and reset your password first.

When you reach the screen asking you to verify your identity with MFA, select MFA Reset.

      Log in to River Portal
      Get Technical Help

      Step 2: Connect Your Smartphone

The Reset Your MFA page will display a QR code.

      1. Open the camera on your smartphone.
      2. Scan the QR code.
      3. Follow the link that appears on your phone.

If you can’t scan the QR code, enter the unique web address displayed below the QR code into your phone’s browser.

      Step 3: Verify Your Identity

      On your smartphone:

      1. Review the Consent to Verify ID information and select Consent to continue.
      2. Allow access to your phone’s camera when prompted.
      3. Follow the instructions to photograph both sides of your valid government-issued ID.
      4. Take a selfie in a well-lit area while looking directly at the camera.
      5. Review your selfie and select Submit.

Make sure your ID and selfie photos are clear and well lit. Blurry images, poor lighting or an unsupported ID may prevent the system from verifying your identity.

Step 4: Set Up MFA Again

Once your identity is successfully verified, check the personal email address you have on file with Indian River State College for a notification.

      Then:

      1. Return to River Portal and sign in.
      2. Follow the prompts to set up your MFA method again.
      3. When possible, add an additional MFA method as a backup.

You should now be able to access River Portal and RiverMail.

      Having Trouble Resetting MFA?

If the system asks you to resubmit your information, check that:

      • Your ID is valid and has not expired.
      • Your ID matches your legal name on file with Indian River State College.
      • Your ID photos are clear and readable.
      • Your selfie is clear, well lit and taken directly facing the camera.
      • You’re using an accepted government-issued ID rather than a student ID or photo of an ID.

      Didn’t Receive the Email?

Check the personal email account you have on file with Indian River State College, including your spam or junk folder.

You can also try signing in to River Portal again. If you’re prompted to set up a new MFA method, your reset was successful and you can continue.

If you’re still asked to verify your identity using an MFA method you can’t access, select Get Technical Help.

      Still Can’t Reset MFA?

If self-service identity verification is unsuccessful or your account becomes locked, you’ll need technical assistance.

For your security, additional identity verification may be required before access to your account can be restored.
