Orientation: Navigating the River

Orientation offers a mix of academic, educational and social programming designed to prepare you for a successful college career.  Fall orientation will be held in-person on August 19th and 20th, 2024 with an online course component (SLS 1501). Orientation is mandatory for ALL new students.


Students will also need to register for SLS 1501 on their course schedule via MyPioneerPortal once Fall registration begins on May 13.

DAY 1 - Monday, August 19, 2024: All students will attend the Massey Campus location in Fort Pierce.

7:30 AM - 8:30 AM  Check-in & Departmental Tabling: visit with FA, learn more about your program of study, chat with faculty & staff. 
8:45 AM - 9:15 AM Presidents Welcome
9:30 AM – 11:30 AM Academic Breakout Sessions SLS1501: Navigating the River
11:30 AM – 3 PM IRSC Carnival, Food Trucks, Campus Tours, Student Resource Breakout sessions

Choose to take a tour and/or attend a presentation – Campus Tours to begin every 15 min – beginning at 11:45 AM.

Breakout Sessions are 20 minutes in length – Pick and choose which you’d like to attend:

The Bookstore & Student Success Offices (Registrar, FA, Advising, Admissions, &  Cashiering) will be open regular hours.

Parents are encouraged to attend. Exclusive Parent Session

DAY 2: - Tuesday, August 20, 2024: Choose the campus where the majority of your classes will be held.

All Campus locations, attend anytime between 8 AM – 12 PM

  • Academic Breakout Sessions will begin every 15 min (Begin the SLS1501 Orientation Course: get additional assistance with Blackboard, Accessing My Pioneer Portal and Rivermail)
  • Self guided Campus Tour
  • Faculty Meet-and-Greet (Begins 9 AM, 10 AM and 11 AM)
