ESSA

Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), schools must track and report student progress every year. For students receiving special education services, this progress monitoring is tailored to their individual needs, as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP team regularly reviews and analyzes how a student is progressing. Based on this review, the team can adjust teaching methods or materials and modify the student’s goals to ensure they are appropriate and challenging. For students at Indiantown High School (IHS), specialized services like speech and occupational therapy are provided by the Martin County School District (MCSD). Additionally, MCSD is responsible for training and guiding all employees who work with students in Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
