SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

We created these spaces to share news, celebrate student and faculty achievements, and connect our campus community. These community standards help keep conversations respectful and relevant. By engaging with our posts, you agree to follow these community standards.
Our social media accounts are actively monitored during normal business hours. We value free expression, civil discourse and welcome a wide range of viewpoints, including critical ones, as long as comments remain civil and on-topic. These community standards apply to all visitors, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members commenting on official Indian River State College social media posts.
The social media pages primarily operate in English. Comments in other languages are welcome, but our team may be limited in its ability to moderate or respond to non-English content.
What We Encourage
- Stay on topic — Keep comments relevant to the post. Share questions, insights, or experiences that genuinely contribute to the conversation.
- Be respectful and civil — Disagree with ideas, not people. Constructive criticism of The River and its policies is welcome when expressed respectfully.
- Share your perspective — Varying viewpoints strengthen our community. Students, alumni, staff, and community members are all welcome to engage.
- Ask questions — Our social media team monitors comments and will do their best to answer questions or direct you to the right resource.
- Report concerns — If you see a comment that violates these community standards, use the platform’s “Report” feature or email MMB@irsc.edu.
