Indian River State College Sets Indiantown High School Groundbreaking for June 14

INDIANTOWN, FL—Indian River State College today announced that it would immediately begin construction on the permanent site for Indiantown High School, a state-of-the-art career and workforce education high school on Southwest Citrus Boulevard in Indiantown. The news comes on the heels of the passing of Governor Ron DeSantis' Freedom First Budget, which includes $5 million toward the programmatic planning and site infrastructure and development, planning, design and engineering, and preliminary construction of the new charter high school.
A ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14.
In mid-2021, IRSC made public its vision to bring a charter high school to Indiantown,
Florida, one of the most economically depressed areas in its service district. The
project was accelerated by a $10 million gift from an anonymous donor who admired
the College's track record and commitment to helping students of all ages, backgrounds
and means achieve their dreams through education.
A land lease for 25-acres of county property on Southwest Citrus Boulevard was approved by the Martin County Board of Commissioners in February 2022. Last month, members of the School Board of Martin County unanimously voted to accept IRSC's application to establish Indiantown High School. Indiantown High School will welcome its first students in its temporary location at the Boys & Girls Club of Indiantown in August. The school is presently accepting applications for admissions to its inaugural 9th-grade class. (The application is available at indiantownhs.irsc.edu.)

Indiantown will have its own high school by this time next year."
The new career and technical education charter high school focuses on career and workforce education and Dual Enrollment opportunities. Its unique educational foundation aims to develop entrepreneurial mindsets supporting individual and regional economic stability and enhance pathways for workforce and post-high school educational opportunities. The school offers a traditional curriculum with an added focus on career and technical education opportunities (manufacturing, HVAC, automotive technology, electrical, etc.) The new site will additionally allow IRSC to train local citizens wishing to earn credentials/degrees during nights and weekends.
