Indian River State College Receives Over $10.5 Million in State Capital Funding

FORT PIERCE, FLA (July 3, 2025) – Indian River State College President Timothy Moore today expressed profound gratitude to the College’s legislative delegation following the Governor’s signing of the 2025-26 State Budget, which includes $10,516,769 in capital outlay appropriations for the College.

The funding consists of two major allocations that will significantly enhance educational facilities and infrastructure across Indian River State College’s campuses. The River received $7,426,794 for the renovation of its Science Center on the Massey Campus in Fort Pierce, representing the final funding needed for comprehensive upgrades to the 64,000+ square foot facility. With a total project cost of $22.5 million, students can anticipate significant modernization and improvements to one of the main physical sciences hubs at the College.

An additional $3,089,975 was allocated to address some of Indian River State College’s maintenance needs across all campuses. This funding will provide improvements to HVAC systems, utility systems, lift stations, lighting, security enhancements, and other essential infrastructure components.

“We are incredibly grateful to our outstanding legislative delegation for their unwavering commitment to Indian River State College and the students we serve,” said Dr. Timothy E. Moore, Indian River State College President. “This substantial investment in our facilities will directly impact the quality of education we can provide and ensure our students have access to modern, state-of-the-art learning environments.”

The College’s seven-member legislative delegation includes Senator Gayle Harrell, Senator Erin Grall, Representative Dana Trabulsy, Representative Toby Overdorf, Representative John Snyder, Representative Kaylee Tuck, and Representative Robbie Brackett. All members played important roles in securing these appropriations for The River.

President Moore offered special thanks to Senator Harrell and Representative Trabulsy, who served as the primary champions for the funding requests. “Senator Harrell and Representative Trabulsy demonstrated exceptional leadership in bringing these appropriations home to our community,” Moore noted. “Their dedication to advancing higher education opportunities in our region is commendable and appreciated.”

The Science Center renovation will modernize laboratory spaces, upgrade technology infrastructure, and enhance safety systems, creating an optimal learning environment for students pursuing careers in the physical sciences. The maintenance funding will address infrastructure needs that support day-to-day operations across all Indian River State College campuses.
